Neil started his hedge fund career in August 2001 as an assistant portfolio manager at Deutsche Suisse Asset Management, a risk arbitrage oriented hedge fund. In 2003 he was promoted to portfolio manager and subsequently produced 14.1% net annual returns with a 3.3 sharpe ratio during the three year period from 2003 to 2005. By supplementing risk arbitrage with other event driven strategies, Neil outperformed the Credit Suisse/Tremont risk arbitrage index by 18.3% during the four year period from Jan 2003 to Feb 2007. Prior to entering the investment business, Neil worked for six years at the BCE family of companies in upper level marketing and financial management roles. Neil graduated with a BA (Hons) in Chartered Accountancy Studies from the University of Waterloo in 1994, obtained his Certified Management Accounting Designation (CMA) in 1997 and latter obtained his MBA with distinction from the University of Toronto in 2001.
